The recently released Bollywood movie, Mimi directed by Laxman Utekar, starring Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathy was one of the best work of Bollywood so far. The sweet, emotional, pleasant movie won everyone’s hearts by its loving story of a surrogate mother. I personally loved the movie and the acting was just top notch. This isn’t the first Bollywood movie on surrogate mother as we know from Chori Chori Chupke Chupke but personally it wasn’t as heart warming as Mimi.
This movie didn’t only highlight the bitter reality of this world in surrogacy process but also taught everyone one of us the meaning of Motherhood. One of my favorite dialogue of the movie- “Maa banne ke liye bacche ko janam nahi dena padhta, usse pyaar dena hota hai”, itself says that for becoming a mother you don’t have to give birth to your child but you have to give that love. In India there are still many people who refuse adoption and don’t consider it an option while there are so many children waiting for someone to give them the love their birth parents refused to give them. All they want is parents to love them and take care of them. Everyone should be more invested and eager to adopt babies as that is the best charity you can ever provide to this world and make it a better place. We learnt this from Mimi. Not only that, Mimi taught us that it is okay to dream of things even if they are nearly impossible and she taught us how to be an ambitious woman and to love ourselves the way we are.
I wouldn’t say that Mimi was picture perfect as it had some mistakes like any other movie. The fact that Mimi’s parents didn’t throw her out of her house being the typical lower class family was something I found really abnormal. Belonging from a middle class family myself, I am pretty sure that my family would kill me if they even heard I was kissing a person and pregnancy is far from it. Secondly how are the small town people of Rajasthan being chilled about a white child, like they should be reacting more than that and to be honest maybe within a week 9f tge baby’s arrival they would have called the press to view such a miracle.
However, the movie altogether was really beautiful and heart warming. I am pretty sure everyone loved the movie and most of us even weeling while watching the film.
Hope you found it useful! See you in my next blog.
